Review: Bobbi Brown Extra Bright Powder Compact Foundation SPF25 PA+++

By 02:35 , ,

Formulated to compliment Bobbi Brown's Extra Bright skincare range, the new Bobbi Brown Extra Bright Powder Compact Foundation SPF25 PA+++ is meant to give you a more even, poreless and shine-free look that lasts all day. Created especially for Asian skins, it's packed with brightening ingredients which is a double-action treatment makeup that covers dark spots, discolourations and uneveness instantly and over time, as well as protects against future sun damage.

Bobbi Brown Extra Bright Powder Compact Foundation contains a blend of light reflecting optics and sheer titanium which helps to reduce the appearance of uneven skin tone and naturally reflect light. It is formulated with the same vitamin-enriched blend featured in Bobbi Brown's Extra Bright Skincare line, the exclusive Super Citrus Complex, composed of Unshiu Peel Extract (young orange extract). Grapefruit, Lime Extract and Vitamin C, instantly reduces the appearance of skin-dulling dark spots and discolourations for a radiant brighter-looking complexion. Plus, broad spectrum UVA/UVB provides complete protection against the sun's damaging rays.

A complex of Cucumber Extract and Pentavitin helps lock-in moisture to prevent dryness and reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores. A combination of luxurious powders, coated with amino and fatty acids create a smooth natural feel. Shine control is achieved with a shine-free powder technology, featuring titanium coated with cellulose and spherical, porous powder to absorb oil and prevent dullness.

I suppose compact foundations work well in hot humid weather or if you just want a foundation with a lighter feel, but it's still not my go to choice. However if it's described as flawless, I'd like to see how it turns out. The ultra fine texture allows for a smooth application. Coverage is buildable from sheer to medium. Although I don't suggest layering on too much due to the titanium. The sheer titanium ingredient is what gives the Extra Bright Powder Compact Foundation that brighter look, however it also makes my complexion appear a tad white-ish upon application. It does oxidises to about a shade darker after about 30 minutes on me. I have to say though, my complexion appears more smooth and clear. I still use a concealer for my dark acne scars as it didn't really cover those. Despite it being a powder texture, it feels comfortable.

I didn't go wild and wore it without a base. I mean powder on combination-oily skin, it doesn't sound too promising. So I wore it with the Bobbi Brown CC Cream, a current obsession (Review here). It lasted a good 7 hours without any migration or looking patchy. As for a shine -free look, well it didn't happen. My skin was still oily but the foundation stayed on despite the blotting. My complexion also appeared bright through out.

Bobbi Brown Extra Bright Powder Compact Foundation comes in 9 shades suitable for Asian skin tones. This however doesn't include all Asian skin tones. I'm wearing Warm Natural which is a good match but not perfect. It also happens to be the darkest shade. A bit surprised but I heard that Bobbi Brown is working on this. Lets hope they come up with a wider range for medium-dark skin tones.

It's housed in a slim compact which is convenient to carry around. Bobbi Brown Extra Bright Powder Compact Foundation SPF25 PA+++ is available at all Bobbi Brown outlets and retails at RM170 for compact and sponge.
