Shu Uemura Lightbulb UV Compact Foundation - New Releases 2014

By 13:10 , ,

With the Shu Uemura Lightbulb UV Compact Foundation you can get that high coverage with a natural glow without a powdery finish.  How is that possible right? I mean high coverage with a compact usually means a more matte finish and glow is only possible with a highlighter. Well Shu Uemura Lightbulb UV Compact Foundation uses a unique lightbulb oleo technology and the lightbulb pearl by mixing macadamia oil and liquid luster to get the glow effect. The buildable oil in the lightbulb oleo-technology allows for a buildable smooth coverage. Basically it's finely milled giving it that smooth light texture, which is why it doesn't appear cakey or heavy. It also comes with SPF 30 PA+++ to protect your skin from those dangerous rays.

You have to apply it with the special lightbulb polishing sponge otherwise it doesn't work! It's the product of 20 years of know how, two-sided each with a specific use - Glide for coverage and Polish for glow. You can also wet the glide side with either Shu Uemura Deep Sea Water or tap water for further coverage with a natural glow. It comes in a sleek black compact with a compartment for the sponge beneath the foundation. Easy to carry around. You can watch the video on how to use the Lightbulb UV compact foundation here via the Shu Uemura Youtube channel.

I don't normally opt for compact foundations for fear of looking cakey but this one turned out pretty well, it felt light with medium coverage on me. I still needed to use a concealer for my dark circles and acne scars. Living up to its 'lightbulb' name my complexion looked bright and fresh. It also appeared smoother, slightly masking my pores. It does seem to be a little on the fair side in the photo but it does oxidise a tiny bit darker on me. I will get back to you guys on the shade Lisa chose for me, I forget. It seems to blend quite well with my neck.

It lasted for a good 4 hours before my oiliness started getting noticeable. There was some transfer when I blotted but not enough for it to look patchy. The thing about compact foundation is, I really don't fancy 'touching up' unless absolutely necessary because the thought of piling on more doesn't appeal to me.

Shu Uemura Lightbulb UV Compact Foundation comes in 16 shades suitable for a wide range of Asian and Caucasian skin tones. It will be available at all Shu Uemura outlets in April and will retail at RM180 for compact and sponge.

  1. Hi! I am so excited to try this! What do you think about this product on oily skin? My skin absolutely hated the liquid version because it made me so much oilier than usual! :(
